Skógálfar, Álfabrekka is a climate forestry project located in South Iceland, developed across approximately 100 hectares of land to generate high-integrity carbon removals through afforestation and sustainable forest management.
The project establishes a multi-purpose forest that combines long-term carbon sequestration with soil conservation, biodiversity enhancement, sustainable timber production, recreational value, and ecosystem restoration. Designed to deliver environmental, economic, and social co-benefits, the project demonstrates how climate forestry can contribute to regional resilience while supporting Iceland's long-term carbon neutrality goals.
